Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 7. You are most likely coming here as a follow up to my Part 4 of 5 articles on creating an online business. I hope you found part (1) one through part (4) informative and helpful.

Today I am going to cover marketing your website. You can have the best website in the world, but if you have no visitor then you make no money. Here are a few ways that you can get people to your site. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 7

FREE:

* Fliers
* Business Cards
* Bulletin Boards
* Online Forums
* Online FREE Classifieds

Paid Advertising:

* (PPC) Paid Per Click Advertising
* Ads in News papers
* Radio / T.V. ads
* Paid ads on web site that maintain a high level of traffic
* Paid ads on search engines
Okay, now that I have shown you a few ways to advertise lets get you in the right mind set. You need to imagine the conversation that is going on in your potential customers head when they are coming to your site from any of the above techniques. I am going to assume you are building a work at home directory site such as mine, but you can apply these techniques to any type of online business. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 7

If for example they are looking for a Home Based Business then you will want to take them to your landing page for Home Based Businesses. You will have the directory for all of your sites at the top and sides sprinkled with other Work At Home, Online Paid Surveys, Rebate Processing and others, but 85% of your page should be Home Based Business Opportunities. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 7

It is important to have your best converting Home Based Businesses in the hot spots on your site. If you are going to have a newsletter, which is a great way to keep in touch with your customers, you should have that in a hot spot location. You want to take them directly to the specific things they are searching for. The more they have to search around the less likely you are to converting them into a customer. Even worse the less likely they will book mark you site for later usage. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 7

Let’s assume you are using (PPC) Paid Per Click advertising. This is where you will pay a search engine, for example, 18 cents to display your ad to anyone who types in the phrase “work at home”. It’s very important to make the key word match the landing page. The next step is to ensure you the text on your web page ads reflect the product and / or service that they are going to be looking at. It makes no sense to send someone who is looking for paid surveys to a program that has absolutely nothing to do with paid surveys. Sure you will maybe get one customer out of 500, but that will more than likely cost you more than you will make. If a visitor likes your site he will look around on his own, but it builds confidence in your site if he is taken to what he expects to see. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 7

There is so much to cover I am going to begin an advanced series, which I think will help clarify and fine-tune your site even further. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 7

See you in the advances series!

Creating a Web Based Business The Works Part 1Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 6
Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 6 You are most likely coming here as a follow up to my Part 3 of 5 articles on creating an online business. I hope you found part (1) one through part (3) informative. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 6

Today I am going to cover web page layout and design. It’s important to always be working toward your long-term goal of having a presentable, fast loading web page. Studies have shown that people who will open your site will mostly see what I call hot zones. To understand the hot zone lets draw an imaginary line on your web page from the top left hand corner over to the right and then half way down the page on the left side much like a triangle. There is also a hot spot from left to right along the very bottom of the page. Most of your visitors are going to see these areas only. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 6

These advanced techniques are things that I learned only after a year of web site design so it should give you a head start on your business. You may be thinking okay why have the rest of the page if visitors are only going to look at the hot spots? Well a large percentage will look there and that will be where you want most of your best converting offers, but others will spend time looking through your whole site. The goal is to increase the time they stay on your site, which increases chances for a conversion into a sale. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 6

The placement of offers on your site will be somewhat dynamic in that you can monitor and move around the opportunities that you find converting well. If you see one program located at the bottom of your page converting at 20% versus another at 1% that is located at a hot spots. Change them! It’s that simple give the top converting programs the most exposure. You will more than likely be given a web site template, especially if you have followed what I did through out this (5) part series. If you did than you are on the right track to keeping your site looking organized and presentable. This means making sure things are lined up properly, spelling is correct and use friendly colors. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 6

In the next example I’m going to use my web site as a reference so that you get an idea of what I’m talking about. You can then incorporate your products and services in the same manner. The point is you need to keep similar programs on the same web page. For example you will find by going to my site that I have a Work at Home, Online Paid Surveys, Moms Jobs, Top10, Home Based Business and a news letter page. Why do I do that? Well if someone is looking for a home based business they don’t want to have to sift through work at home or survey programs to find out what they are looking for. The more they have to look the lower your chances of converting them into a customer will be. They as I would, under the same circumstances, will get frustrated and move on. If on the other hand someone is looking for Online Paid Surveys and you send them to a landing page that has all of your survey opportunities nicely organized on one page then they will be more likely to either take action then or book mark your site so they can come back later. We have all found sites that we really liked the way they were designed and book marked them for later use. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 6

Okay in summary, you will put your best programs in the hot spots. The rest of the programs will be nicely organized throughout your site and you will have multiple landing pages. Make sense? I hope so, because if you will do it the right way up front you will save yourself more time and make more money. Well I think we have covered enough for this part. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 6

See you in Part (5) five.

Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 5

Creating a Web Based Business The Works Part 1Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 5

You are more than likely coming here as a follow up to my Part 1 of 5 article on creating an online business. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 5

Today I’m going to talk about affiliate selections. When I say affiliate selections, I am assuming you are wanting to offer a product or service for other companies, on your site. You will need to identify those companies. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 5

I would suggest have a good variety of choices for your customers. You will need to make a different landing page for each group so that when a customer comes to your site; they will be taken to the product or service they are looking for.

Remember the goal is to set your web site up so that you are a middleman offering products and services to the visitors who frequent your site. You won’t have to get involved in the process. Once they click a link they will be taken directly to the companies web site. The companies will then pay you a small referral fee for each sale or lead. Think about how many millions of people you have access to through the Internet. Amazing isn’t it? Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 5

Last article we talked about finding a proven system, whereby you are given a template web site that can be easily modified to accommodate your products and services. You probably have already thought of some of the affiliate companies that you would like to offer your visitors. Here are a few of the criteria I would suggest looking for when identifying the companies you wish to deal with:

* Identify companies that you feel, after researching, that have viable products or service that your visitors well need and want. You can have the best product in the world, but if no one wants it you’re not going to make any money.

* Check for any history or feedback from existing customers using forums etc.

* Identify companies that have a money back guarantee and actually honor that guarantee when asked. Move them to the top of the list. Protect your customers as much as possible. They will be loyal and return to your site when they need something else. Encourage feedback on the companies you offer.

* Check the respective companies payout record to affiliates.

* How long have they been in business?

* Ensure that the company offers step-by-step guidance for the product or service they provide.

* What type of customer support will your visitors have?

These are just a few of the many criteria that need to be looked at. When reading forums, remember not every article has to be positive. Sometimes it’s simply not a good fit for that particular person. Often times good companies get a bad reputation on forums simply because the person realized they were going to have to do some work. Nothing is free. Look at how many positive posts there are to negative posts. I can assure you the largest of companies have some unhappy customers that have posted negative things on forums. Look at the big picture. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 5

on the other side there are many scams out there that need to be avoided if possible. This can be done in part through your research. You will either need to use a website like mine, but not necessarily mine, or be prepared to do a lot of research yourself. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 5

Once you have identified the companies you want to offer your visitors you will then need to add either them to your site with your appropriate affiliate link so you will get credit for the sales. This will take a little time, but be patient because you are building the foundation of your business. It does no good to have an incorrectly typed link that pays you nothing. Check to ensure that your affiliate links are tracking properly. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 5

In my last article I mentioned that you can choose to pay someone else to develop, and maintain your site or learn how to do so yourself. I think it’s important for you, if possible, to be able to modify and maintain your site. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 5

Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 4

Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 4

People are turning to the Internet in droves looking to create an Online Web Business. It’s easy to see why when you think of the overall concept of working from anywhere and having your business online. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 4

Why would anyone want to own an online business? Two things quickly come to mind. Time and money. You can earn a substantial income, whilst your time requirements decrease on a weekly or monthly basis. Once you get your web site up and running you simply need to tweak it on a weekly basis, thus the time required decreases as time goes by. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 4

Today I’m going to talk about what I call vehicle selection. The vehicle in my example is the web site creation, marketing and maintenance. This is the foundation of your business and I would suggest choosing a very good one. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 4

You can choose either to pay someone else to develop, and maintain your site or learn how to do so yourself. I was amazed to find out that with literally no experience I was able to find a company that would give me the step-by-step guidance necessary to both create, maintain a website and offer continuous support. The cost for this is in my opinion is unbelievably low. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 4

The first thing you need to do is research, then you will need to choose whether you are going to develop your website or pay someone else to do it for you. If you want to keep the cost of your site overall to a minimum then keep reading this article. If you choose the latter than you can move on to Part (2) two of my (5) step process to creating an online business. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 4

Now then, you are probably thinking that you don’t have any idea of where to start. You are probably quite sure that you do not have the skill sets necessary to do this on your own. If that is what you are thinking, join the crowd, because I was quite sure I could not do this on my own. Having hindsight comes in handy in this instance, because I can tell you now that the decisions I made early on saved me a ton of money, but more importantly gave me an understanding of my online business that I would not have had by paying someone else to do it for me. I have total control, yet I have the support necessary when needed to continue my growth. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 4

Okay, now lets go to the next step. What did I look for when researching my vehicle? Here ya go:

* A time Proven System.
* A template web site that could easily be modified.
* Strong 24 hour support
* Minimal cost
* Step-by-step guidance on how to create, modify and maintain my site.
* Total control in the end of my Online Web Based Business.

In my opinion this is the foundation of your business and that is why doing the necessary, up front research, is so important. If you have read any of my other articles you will quickly realize that I always mention how important
research is to your success. I would suggest that you either do the research yourself or use a web site like mine, but not necessarily mine to locate your vehicle. Not doing the research utilizing one of these methods, in my opinion, will cost you time and money.

Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 3

Creating a Web Based Business The Works Part 1Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 3

You are most likely coming here as a follow up to my advanced series articles on creating an online business. Today we are going to cover some additional advanced tips to enhance your web site. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 3

Now that you have your ads running nicely, you will need to monitor traffic that visits your site. A few important factors to keep in mind are as follows:

* How long does a visitor stay on your site?
* What percentages of your visitors browse your site?
* What conversions are you getting from each landing page?
* Unique visitors versus repeat visitors

I want to repeat the cycle that is very important to understand. You want your keywords to bring visitors to the specific landing page that highlights what they are looking for. Put your self in their shoes. Imagine what you would be looking for if you typed a particular keyword in a search engine such as Google and give it to them. If they want to look around after that wonderful, but our goal is to get them to what they want quickly. No one wants to have to look around to find what they want. If we see and ad, we want to get information pertaining to what was in the ad when we click on it.

I would suggest monitoring your keywords on a regular basis ensuring that the traffic being brought to your site is relevant. You may need to use some negative keywords to minimize (PPC) Paid Per Click advertising cost. For example if you have a keyword called work at home, you could get traffic from someone typing in assembly work at home. You can simply put assembly in as a negative keyword and that would prevent them from being directed to your site and you being charged for the click. You can easily see the fine-tuning process that needs to continue on a regular basis. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 3

On a regular basis you will need to fine-tune the following areas:

* Keywords, adding, removing and using negative keywords
* (PPC) Paid Per Click, monitor and keep bids to a minimum
* Conversion rate on campaign ads
* Move best converting programs to hot spots
* Ensure you have a newsletter so you can keep track of your visitors
Over the years I have found many online tools that make this process easier. In the beginning I spent a lot of time doing this on a regular basis, but either way it was time well spent. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 3

I hope you have enjoyed my article series on this topic. There is so much valuable information that is to be learned. I learn daily when working with my site, however having owned business before I can tell you it’s worth it. My time spent working has decreased, money increased and I enjoy life much more. I wish you the best. Just remember it will take time and effort to build a successful online business. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 3

Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 2

Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 1Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 2

Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 2. You are most likely coming here as a follow up to my articles on creating an online business. Today we are going to cover some advanced tips on comparing ads so that can help you get a better conversion rate.

Lets assume for sake of argument that your site is created, published and you are running (PPC) ads. I recommend running these all the time, but especially in the beginning to get your site converting well. In fact when I signed up with my host they gave me advertising credits, which really helped out. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 2

This is very important! If you are running ads and you are not getting clicks then it means your ads are not standing out in the crowd. Believe me there are plenty of people on the Internet and you should be getting clicks. You want think about the products and services you are offering on your site when writing your ads. What type of ads would interest you if you were looking for these items.? Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 2

As I mentioned before specific keywords bring up both your ads and others. You want your ads to spike their interest enough they will want to take a look. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 2

Okay, when writing your ads I want you to write two ads for each campaign. What does this mean? It means for each ad type you are going to be running two similar ads with the same keywords. On most search engines like Yahoo you can create an ad campaign, which then has your ads in it. You simply create your first ad inside the campaign, add your keywords and your finished with ad number 1. Now, I want you to go back into the ad campaign and create another a slightly different ad. It will automatically use the same keywords. In Yahoo, you will need to then go back to the campaign level, click on the ads and then click on optimize ads button. Please select no and submit. What will happen then is each of your two ads will run, each showing (50) fifty percent of the time. After some time has passed you will be able to tell by the conversion rate, which one is performing best. Simply modify the worst one with some new text and check it again after receiving more hits. You are always improving on your ads therefore your conversion rates only get better. You will need to let them run so that you get at least 50 – 100 clicks before changing. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 2

After getting someone to click on your ad, you want to take him or her to the specific landing page that offers exactly what he or she are looking for. Always remember the steps we talked about from beginning to end. It’s very important to tie them all together nicely. A potential customer wants to click on an ad they think will take care of their needs and go to exactly the product or service they the ad referred to. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 2

Please feel free to read both this article or one of my many other articles this topic by visiting my link in the resource box below. I always enjoy getting emails pertaining to my articles or my site. Your feedback is important to me. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 2

Okay, enough for today. See you in Advanced part III. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 2

Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 1

Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 1Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 1

You are most likely coming here as a follow up to my Part 5 of 5 articles on creating an online business. I hope you found part (1) one through part (5) informative and helpful. Today we are going to cover some advanced tips that can help you build a more efficient and profitable web site. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 1

I have gone step-by-step through the process that I used to build my online business. Obviously, I cannot cover every small detail, but you can email me at any time should you have any questions. I will be happy to help you if I can. Especially if you follow the same steps as I have taken. I am very familiar with this particular process. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 1

Now that your site is published and up and running, what do you do next?

This is very important! You must monitor it real time to ensure your site is converting as high as possible. You will have some products and services that will convert better than others. After a decent sampling time, perhaps a couple of hundred click throughs, I would consider putting the highest converters in the hot spots on your site. You may not understand what a click through is. Lets back up a bit. To understand your site, you will need to know when someone comes to your site, how long they stay, what pages they visit and where they exit. You can find many free counters that will give you that type of data. In addition each program normally offers some tracking information as to how many clicks and sales you have gotten. You are going to need a couple hundred clicks on each link to get a fair comparison. Many people are getting about a (1) one percent conversions rate on most programs. I have some that have converted as high as (25) twenty five percent. I’ll bet you can pick which ones are in my hot spots. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 1

After receiving a couple hundred clicks on your links, you can then adjust your site as required. Here are a couple of questions to ask yourself on a regular basis and helpful hints on how to correct:

* How many clicks are you getting from your advertising? If people are clicking on your ads in droves, but are not staying long, not visiting your other pages nor clicking on any affiliate links then you probably do not have a good match up between your keywords and landing pages. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 1
* How many people are staying around longer then 5 seconds on after coming to your site? If less then 2% are staying less then 5 seconds your either have poor traffic, probably free ads, or a poor keyword to landing page match up. I would suggest only using (PPC) Paid Per Click advertising until you get your website fine tuned a bit. Free ads often bring people clicking just because they are curious and not because they are looking for anything.
* How many of your keywords are bring you good traffic. Many times what you are looking for are long tail phrases, which are more often two to three word phrases not just one. Typically the one-word keywords get a lot of clicks, but no results. Your goal is to be as specific as possible i.e., getting yourself the best possible customers as possible. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 1

Okay, enough for today, I can see that we are going to have to break this up into (3) three parts to get it all covered. Creating a Web Based Business The Works: Part 1

See you in Advanced part two.

A very successful field for many people is a home-based travel business. Being a home-based travel agent means making available travel products produced by someone else. You can do it two ways. You can be a referral agent, directing people to a travel agency. Then you would receive part of the commission on these sales. You can also book your own vacations and travel. You will receive a commission on that as well. Starting Up A Your Own Home-Based Travel Business

The second way to have a travel business is to be a booking and selling agent. You would deal directly with the clients to help them find the kind of traveling experience they are looking for. Then you would research the options for them. You would deal with the travel supplier, looking for the best options. Then you would present the options to them and let them choose what they want. After they have decided, you would make all the arrangements for them. In exchange for all this, you would receive a higher commission than the referral agent. Starting Up A Your Own Home-Based Travel Business
